swimming togs

image via Top Shop

How lovely is this one piece? The back design is devine - looky here!
With summer beckoning, so does my overdue fitness regime. I've struggled to get my lazy self out of bed for a morning swim.. hopeless.

on the weekend

: Went our for yummy Malaysian dinner
: Chilled out, a couple quiet beers, bbq for 2, and finally got round to watching Once
: Sunday market with my sister - bought a owl tea cup set to add to my collection - the teapot is missing the lid but still cute none the less.

pussy bows

I love pussy bow blouses, but I find they're abit hit or miss on me.
I've got some lovely vintage ones but it really comes down to the perfect fit for me to pull it off. The wrong fabric, shoulder pads, wide billowy fit can make one look a tad frumpy and matronly rather than the desired feminine and dainty look.

I fell in love with the cute details of this one from CR.. Love the loops and the sweet print and fits a treat!

eels

JD bought the new Eels album, Hombre Lobo a few weeks ago and it's been on high rotation in the car.
No matter how good a mood I'm in, no matter what's happening around me, even with the spring sun beaming and warm air breezing through the windows, my heart aches when That Look You Give That Guy comes on... painfully beautiful.

snap: a surprise

image via le love

Friday night I got home tired, a wee too eager to get comfortable and just veg out on the couch.

So when JD tries to convince me to compete with Archie (yes, the dog) in a treasure hunt, I was rather miffed (yes, what a bitch). I was tired, cold and didn't feel like trawling around the house.

So Archie wins. JD had bought a fancy pants SLR camera, hid it under our bed and placed a dog biscuit near it so Arch would lead me to it. As it turns out JD had this planned for some time. His credible sweet thoughtfulness swelled the cockles of my cold heart (yes, being the bitch, that I am) and I gushed over my new toy for the rest of the night.

As I recall, I failed year 9 photography, so be patient it may be a while that I present anything decent.

collection: chairs

I was feeling guilty for my growing collection of chairs and was on the verge of getting rid of some. After this sneak peak on Design Sponge, it looks like they're here to stay.

splendid

What a weekend! Truly relaxing...

: Lunched at a friends new restaurant in Drysdale
: Sipped iced Henricks & tonic on the lawn at Athelstane House.
: Fish n Chips over looking the beach in Point Lonsdale
: Sprawled out reading the papers & trashy mags, eating chocolate & watched the sun go down on Swan Bay

Ahhhh, back to the big smoke...

lonny mag

The talented team behind Domino Magazine have launched online Lonny Magazine, aiming "to provide inspiration at the click of the finger". I quite like the product links directing to online websites and stores for products in the homes featured.

With news that the super cute Cookie has also folded, I hope they will continue to do the House tours in the online forum.

Some of my fav Lonny images so far...

to market

Leather pumps $1.50 : Small leather bag $1- : Scientific German glass beaker $4- : Three potted kitchen herbs $5-

Got up early today and waited 10 minutes in a car park queue to get into the sunday market - that's commitment! The things we do..
I went visited my brothers girlfriend who was having a stall at the Round She Goes Vintage Market, whilst there were some cute things about, nothing really tickled my fancy.

Hope you had a great weekend!

the weekend so far..

Last night, friends and I had dinner and drinks at Movida. Yuuum. Completely over ordered and still managed to squeeze in churros and a citrus custard for dessert. Oh my, deeelicous.
Afterwards we saw Sarah Blasko at the forum. What can I say, she was spectacularly ethereal.

Today JD and I worked a little more on the kitchen (kitchen? what kitchen...?) On the way to Bunnings, I stopped off and checked out a school trash n treasure market. I bought this "It's love that makes a house a home" cross stitch for $2. It's strategically placed amongst the crumbling bricks and mess in the kitchen.. I spose a little cheesiness never hurt nobody.

Going to see a movie tonight with the boy.

vietnam: hoi an

One of the many distressed buildings in Hoi An, Vietnam.
It was this time last year JD and I packed our bags, crisp passports and made our first overseas trip. It was an amazing experience for us both. I met some family for the first time and imaged a life which could have been..

I loved Hoi An for it's beautiful architecture and enjoyed the slower pace in comparison to the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh, which JD loved. I felt dainty riding bicycles around and watched the dreamy lanterns float down the canal at night.

Sapa and it's people were beautiful. Breathtaking views - literately breathless, whilst trekking up mountains and weaving around rice paddies. JD and I were crowned the king and queen of Sapa momentarily for the day.

At the end of our trip in Ha Noi, to much surprise JD proposed; spontaneous, simple, sweet and heartfelt.
