morning cup of jo

image via Esty

For JD's birthday I got him a espresso coffee machine. It works like a dream and makes a great cup. Every morning JD makes me a take away for my drive to work. Abit of a cheeky birthday gift, much like when he gave me a plasma tv for christmas a few years ago :)

I love these adorable cable knit coffee snugs by Way Side Voilet on Etsy.

nine years

Dear J,
Happy Anniversary!

I love you for making my packed lunches for work
I love that you break out in little spontaneous dancing jigs
I love that you hide chocolate bars in my bag
I love your silly made up words

Thank you for your love and the beautiful life we have together.
You are my sunshine.

Love, C
xx

love: rain

image via hit or miss found fleur avenue

What a wet and rainy few days it's been here in Melbourne..
More thunderstorms and hail in store for the AFL Grand Final weekend. We'll be heading 'round to a friend's place to watch the game tomorrow, hopefully festivities will be indoor.

I still haven't decided which pair of shoes to return. I'm edging towards keeping both. I know, what a bad ass.

Have a great weekend!

op-shop finds

I feel like ranting about some of my op-shop finds, so bare with me..

This check smock shirt, I bought a few months ago in Philip Island. I love the big pockets cut on the diagonal. It reminds me of kindergarden art smocks or like some thing out of the Toast catalogue. Oooh I feel like going camping or finding a log cabin hideaway.

This week I uncovered three op-shops near work.
Paid $3 for these Italian woven navy flats. Shame they're half a size too big and are in serious need of topy shoe sole grip. So I found out the hard way: I had a magnificent stack down the stairs in our apartment foyer. Was on my sore bottom picking up all my handbag contents! Lucky no neighbors were around to see it. Bargain? Perhaps not.

wardrobe wonderland

Whenever there are some new purchases, the crazy virgo in me comes out in full force and I get this urge to 're-merchandise' the wardrobes. Looooser! I know.
  • I hang every thing by colour blocking, and then by length.
  • I neatly re-fold singlets and knits.
  • I relegate boring, now not so exciting t-shirts and singlets to the sleep or dag around the house section.
  • I sort out my underwear and sock drawer - throw out broken bras and holey stockings.
  • I colour block scarves belts, line up my clutches and hang handbags.
  • I line up my shoes, newbies and golden oldies in prime positioning for easier access.
Until the the middle of the week and it all goes out the window. Here's some dreamy images to inspire and keep me 'in line'...

birthday boast

It's been a few weeks now but, I thought I'd do a little shout out to my beautiful family and friends for the sweet and thoughtful gifts:

An ipod touch and short course gift certificate from the boy (I want to do a sewing course to refine my skills)
Some Funkis Swedish Clogs and a frock from Preap & Coutts and a vintage leather handbag from my big Sis.
A charcoal crochet scarf from one of my best friends.
A wooden Elk necklace and perfume from JD's parents
The Handmade in Melbourne book from my little brother - not bad for a 17 year old!
My mum and grandma to what they do best; put on an amazing feast!

Spoilt rotten!

love: plaid dresses

a weekend of excesses

An unexpected big friday night, lead to a very sore head & horrible hang over which lasted all of Saturday. I won't be repeating that again anytime soon. Horrid.

Today, I got up bright and early ran errands and unexpectedly burnt a massive hole in my pocket. 5 pairs of shoes; soft vintage boots (finally!), ballet flats, loafers, and these two...
One pair is going back for a refund. Keeping both is a wee overboard. Which colour, I am yet to decide...

I think they'll look better with opaque tights...

sheesh, what a week!

Is it just me, but where has the week gone? Absolutely flown past! The new job is definitely keeping me on my tippy toes...

desperately seeking..

new flats! JD will disagree, but I'm seriously in need of some new ones to add to the current rotation. Sadly, not loving any offerings in store at the mo'...

But then there are some cute woven vintage brogues from Sportsgirl - similar to the ones Kate Bosworth is sporting. They come in tan or pink.. Hmmm...

morning mess

This is our couch in the morning...
Relatively comfy but it gets rather squishy between JD, Arch and I... and it ends up looking like a lumpy mess in the morning.

on the weekend

image via Martha Stewart

How was your weekend?
Mine was filled with a few more September birthday celebrations. Oooh they're never ending! Throughout the week we welcomed little ones to the club; friends said hello to their new little baby girl Leyla and JD is uncle an again to a gorgeous raven hair boy called Elliot.

On the Sunday, we met some friends in Red Hill and a enjoyed a long lunch and few bottles of vino over looking the rambling vineyards... Bliss!

a long time between posts..

Gosh so much has happened.. A snapshot of the week that's been..

Friday: Finished up work!
Fare welled some lovely work mates. Was given a gorgeous bracelet & ring from Dinosaur Designs as a parting gift! Love it!

Saturday: JD's 30th Birthday celebrations (a day early) -
Long lunch with friends and family which kicked on until the early hours of the morning, for some..

Sunday: JD's actual birthday -
Shared celebrations with Fathers Day. Spent most of the day doing whizzy dizzies with JD's (almost) 2 year old nephew. Weeeeee!
I made a yummo fennel, dill and lemon baked salmon and homemade mayo tartare sauce.

Monday: First day at work -
All I'm the sudden 'new girl' again.. New challenges, people, bosses, environment. Very refreshing!

Wednesday: My 28th Birthday..
Nothing more awkward than strangers a.k.a the new colleagues singing Happy Birthday. I was hoping I could avoid it but caught out. Crazy, funny, awesome dinner at Mum's - Was spoilt ROTTEN!

JD jokes that we can now go to those rather tragic "over 28's" discotheques together :)

all of a sudden..

I want a pink kitchen!
What's not to love about this sweet kitchen? I love the bentwood chairs, retro fan, cute little metal stool and best of all the open pantry made out of old chicken coops!

brides maid tags

images from Martha Stewart via Olivet

Seriously Martha, these brides maid tags are way cute! Such pretty styling.
I adore these cute little envelopes. I was on a mission to find them a few months ago but can't seem to find there anyone who stocks them.. Staff at Papyrus said that Australia Post no longer take them because the string catches.. Boo!
