found

I found this little vase in Philip Island some weeks ago. Nothing grand but I think it's a little spesh - It has a lovely texture to it - not sure if their leaves or feathers.

weekend randomness

The weekend was very random. a civalised work gathering ended up at a vodka bar and dancing to the wee hours. Mum visited today and found me in a lazy state and in contrast JD was being all handy looking rather impressive drilling this and fixing that round the house.

We walked Archie to the beach. Seriously that dog is impossible, he went at the other much bigger dogs and just could not cope with the cyclists.

I'll try my first attempt at coq au vin tonight and to add to the randomness I'm making lemon slice - just because..

Hope you had a nice weekend.

Little bits around the house from our trip, hat from UO and New York in a bag from Muji. Feels like forever ago..

typography love

A new addition to my growing collection of letters. This one is made of metal and was quite well price considering most industrial stores would have charged triple for it. I also bought a big letter U, yet I'm still to decide where to put it. I think this love is spiraling dangerously out of control.

to market

Leather pumps $1.50 : Small leather bag $1- : Scientific German glass beaker $4- : Three potted kitchen herbs $5-

Got up early today and waited 10 minutes in a car park queue to get into the sunday market - that's commitment! The things we do..
I went visited my brothers girlfriend who was having a stall at the Round She Goes Vintage Market, whilst there were some cute things about, nothing really tickled my fancy.

Hope you had a great weekend!

pretty glass

I need to cull my collection of bottles and jars - too many dust collectors and nowhere to store them. This image from Aimee Herring is making me second guess. It's going to be hard for me to part with them...

Collecting: Vintage paintings

Catherine of Little Glowing Lights reminded me of my abandoned project of collecting vintage oil paintings. Well, maybe not abandoned, but put on hold until all my walls have been painted. Here's the two I found at various op shops..

Still not too sure about this one but I think it may suit my eventual white subway tiled kitchen.
Perhaps sitting above a nesting of white ceramics and nearby some old french bread boards?

Not sure where this one will go.. Perhaps in the hall when I find some more friends for it to reside with.

I love the beautiful simplicity of this one.. Home of Nicole Bonython-Hines, fashion editor of Madison Magazine.

Owl did this happen...?

So I was perusing through the current Frankie Magazine and their collectors section featured OWLS!!

My first owl was a wooden fridge magnet which came off a cute Kikki K birthday card given to me from JD a few years ago.
From then, whenever I op-shopped or fossic at markets I'd look out for them. Funny how that happens.. I develop a new obsession and make it my secret mission to find more and more!!

I don't tell family and friends because then I end up with 100 ugly tragic "Copperart" looking owl figurines for every birthday and Christmas present onwards.

I went through this same obsession with: wooden shoe lasts (3), retro cannisters (3 sets), vintage oil paintings (3), retro electrical fans (3) apothecary jars (too many!) industrial/wooden ladders (3) retro or ornate lamps (more than there are power points in our flat!!) wooden desk trays (5) butter dishes (3) wooden signage letters (3) and list goes on and on.. My overcrowded flat is evidence of this!!!

That explains how the name for the blog came about..

Any hoo-t, I thought I would share my collection of owls (5 and counting)..

This guy was at our paar-tay!

This was kindly added to the collection by my sister

This wall art is made of ceramic tiles - very cute!
