loving..

I can imagine these hand blown glass vases hanging off the picture rails in my home. More simplistic beauty from Analogue Life.

scouting: leather armchairs

Apparently we're looking for beaten up vintage armchairs for the living room.. I do love them but I'm not quite convinced they'll work in the space we have, but JD really wants a pair. So where to begin? I don't think the ebay gods are that kind. Instead I think we'll have to start getting to some auction houses and antique stores.

cute time out corner

Friday I put my hands up to babysit JD's nephews (2 yrs & 9 months), whilst their parents enjoy an evening with Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens). Time out corners weren't required but I was worded up that I was in for a challenging night. It went pretty smoothly, other than bed time being postponed a couple of hours..

Saturday in contrast, we went out for a friends birthday drinks which followed with world cup madness.
Today, I met up with some friends for a lazy Sunday lunch at the Aviary. A couple glasses of wine followed with the lemon myrtle tart I easily could have nestled into a peaceful siesta on their chirpy yellow seats.
I thought to pop into Ikea on the way home, but came to my senses and remembered that it should be avoided at all costs on Sundays. Instead I spend the rest of the night on the couch with the boy (and Gary, George & Matt).

interior love: beach getaway

via bliss

I adore the wash out timbers and light pastel tones through out this beautiful beach getaway.

the weekend

Was very low key. I piked out on birthday drinks, (I get terribly anti-social in the winter) you know you're getting old when house work is taking preference over big nights out. I went to the movies and saw this with the girls and this with the boy. We had friends over tonight and I made a spicy coconut green curry pumpkin soup and we recapped the dismal world cup results.

We purchased some white venetian blinds on sale which replaced some very dated blue blinds, I think the previous owners put them up in the early 90's when blue, yellow, white beach schemes and vibrant dolphin & star fish mirrors were popular.

On Sunday, on the way to collect a ebay purchase, we came across a garage sale. Success, 2 car trips to get our purchases home and by chance we found the matching chest of drawers to our dresser. I also found a simple thin metal stool at a nearby op-shop, it's in need of some new fabric and a little staple gun action but for $3 I'm happy to have some where to sit to eat my toast in the morning. I'll post a photo soon (Hmm, lets see if I'm all talk, no action?)

More repurposed pallets used above, I'm bookmarking for ideas for backyard daybed for the summer.. Which isn't coming soon enough.

Making blog head lines everywhere is the stunning home of Nikole Herriott. Yup I dig..

Hello long weekend!
I'll be spending 3 glorious days pottering around the house. And maybe explore some neighborhood op-shops. Bliss!

anthropologie

Anthropologie Rockefeller windows

It became an obsession, we had to go to as many stores in every city we visited. I gawked at so many amazing props, installations, large scale paper window displays, big daisy chains made of recycled plastic bottles, suspended boats displaying beautiful linens. I recognized some Aussie wares; Lazybones & Mor Cosmetics and as usual furniture and home ware levels were my favorite.
I can imagine working for Anthropologie would be a visual merchandisers dream. Plently have said it (or blogged about it) before, but I want this job.

NYC: looking up

Got a severe case of bloggers fatigue..
Currently culling through the hundreds (no kidding) photos from our trip. Sadly there's definitely quantity, not so much quality. I really wish I could take better photos. Sigh.

Whilst in NYC, we met up with our beautiful friends Han & James, who made it over from London. James was quite enamored by the various fire escapes, admiring their designs, critiquing and praising the well decorated ones. There were bright cherry red ones, and some entwined in fairy lights. Oh crap, perhaps I should have taken more photos...

Photos of the lower east side : outside Babycakes, the cutest cupcakery; bow tie uniformed staff, bunting hanging from the ceiling. This natural vegan organic bakery was jammed packed.
