way up high in the sky

For our engagement friends bought us a hot air balloon flight over Melbourne. We took flight last Sunday.

It definitely made for a comedic morning; blurry eyed, hung over frantically stumbling, profanities flying (think opening scene on Four Weddings and a Funeral) racing to get to the meeting point at 6am. We made it just in time, not a minute to spare. Arrh, we can only look back and laugh.

When we finally woke up to the crisp morning air, we breathed in the beautiful city view..

interior love: emmanuelle flahault

Home of Emmanualle Flahault of Nell Design.
I first fell in love with her home a couple years ago when the bedroom featured on the cover of Inside Out. I was devastated to discover Archie had eagerly chewed and ripped up the cover. More recently it has featured in months Real Living.

making notes

Free download note pads from A Print A Day

Lots of list making at the moment.
So much happening in the real world, posting will be light over the next few weeks. Blog ramblings will be few; no messy words perhaps just pretty, pretty images. I'll share the news when the whirlwind settles.

monday, monday....

Did the weekend fly past? Or was it because the week felt so long?
Well at least the sun came out. It feels like we've been granted an extended summer.

Saturday, my friend & I talked talked and talked during the car ride down the beach. We didn't make it to many op-shops but came across an amazing store with antique pieces and wonderful coastal collectables. I have eye my an old science lab cabinet and these amazing Danish timber utility style chairs. I can't believe I left empty handed. But I think I'll be finding my way back when more pennies are saved.

On the Sunday JD and I worked a little more on the flat. Nothing overly exciting worth elaborating on or sharing photos of. Bah!

liebemalene vintage

I'm sure you're all familiar with amazing blog and lookbook of Liebemarlene Vintage store. The photos are styled and captured are too beautiful for words.

I wish I was graceful enough to wear heals but most attempts I always resort back to flats. Oh I'm definitely bookmarking some of these looks for the Autumn months.

More loveliness here!

a happy weekend for

What's on for the weekend?
:: BBQ at a friends - sitting around in the afternoon sun and have a couple of beers, talk crap.
:: A small roady to the coastal op shops (thrifting) with a friend
:: Perhaps paint the entry hall of our flat

Enjoy!

domestica

I've been rather busy in the kitchen. Cleaning out the pantry, drawers and cupboards.
And baking like a mad woman. I am terribly bad at following recipes accurately. I made two generous sized carrot cakes and underestimated how long they would take to cook. Midnight madness and come 12am they were finally rested on the bench cooling and I was whipping up the cream cheese icing. Still it was worth it. Everyone at work thought so anyway..

small space style

I love the little pops of yellow and green, and lovely pressed white metal in the hall.
I love small spaces with style. I relate to it more because let's be honest that sprawling beach house villa or loft warehouse apartment doesn't look like it's happening anytime soon.. I need to show some restraint and be more thoughtful about the furniture I have. Need to assess what actually works in the space and not just lump it in here.

ray of sunshine

via Home

Bright and cheerful girls bedroom by Megan Morton & Sara Slim.
Megan Morton is one of my favorite stylists, I once met her through work and was a little star struck. She was very warm and friendly - I refrained from asking for her autograph :)
I can't wait to get my mitts on her new book Home Love.

Pssst, I also forgot to mention Megan also owns the Propery - a collectors heaven!
